Visit of Bishop Kate Prowd to Christ Church and the Christ Church Community Meals Program Thanksgiving Service (July 2019)

On 14th July 2019 our Regional Bishop Kate Prowd was the Celebrant and Preacher at our 9.30am Eucharist Service. The next day, Monday 15th July 2019, Bp Prowd was the Guest Speaker at the Thanksgiving Service for the Christ Church Community Meals Program, now in its 30th year of operation and still completely managed and run by volunteers from across the Geelong community. The Thanksgiving Service was attended by representatives of many community groups and organizations who support the Meals Program and, in many cases, are also volunteers who assist in the preparation and serving of meals, and most inportant of all by many of those who use the Meals Program. During the Thanksgiving service, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to representatives of the St John of God Foundation, in recognition of their support for the Meals Program since its beginnings.

You can listen to Bp Kate's address to the Sunday service here - Bp Kate reflected on the Parable of the Good Samaritan and challenged us that perhaps the parable could also be understood as afflicting the comfortable rather than (the more usual interprettation) comforting the afflicted.

You can hear again the hymns and other singing from the Meals Program Thanksgiving Service on Monday 15th July by clicking the links below, and can also hear (and view - in video format) Bp Kate's address to that Service - Bp Kate's theme was "Just as you did it to the least of these little ones, you did it to me....".
