Christ Church Community Meals Program

- Thanksgiving Service, July 2016 - -

On 11th July 2016 a special celebration was held at Christ Church to acknowledge the great contributions of donors, volunteers and supporters of the Meals Program, from across the community in Geelong and surroiunding areas.

Now in its 25th year of operation and still completely managed and run by volunteers from across the Geelong community, the Christ Church Community Meals Program serves over 14,500 breakfasts and over 12,000 evening meals per annum, and operates every day of the year. Its two-fold mission is -

. to feed and support the needy, without discrimination, in a safe, friendly and respectful manner, at Christ Church, Geelong; and

. to provide the opportunity for the Geelong community to exercise their compassion through donations of food and other goods, and for volunteers to operate the Meals Prpogram.

The Preacher at this special service was the Western Region Bishop, Bp Phillip Huggins, and you can listen to his address by clicking on the link below. The service was also attended by Fr Kevin Dillon from St Mary’s Basilica, Adn Neil Hicks, and by representatives of many community groups and organizations who support the Meals Program and, in many cases, are also volunteers who assist in the preparation and serving of meals. The Christ Church Organist Winton Barry and Choir led the musical offerings during the service.
